Biographical information
Susan is a qualified, practising teacher of English as a foreign language, as well as a presenter, researcher and author in the English Language Teaching (ELT) field. Susan's qualifications include:
- BA with Distinction specialising in language, communication and cultural studies (UWS, Nepean)
- MA in Language and Literacy (University of Technology, Sydney)
- RSA Certificate in TEFLA (administered by Cambridge University, UK)
- She is currently undertaking Doctoral research through the University of Technology, Sydney, investigating aspects of spoken English.
Susan is the author of 'Understanding English Pronunciation' and 'Understanding Spoken English' and the 'Understanding Everyday Australian' series of English language resources (books and audio material) as well as, 'Spelling and Pronunciation for English Language Learners'. These resources are currently used in ESL classrooms in various countries around the world, in university language centres, secondary schools and English language colleges.
In response to popular demand, Susan is currently developing resources aimed at beginner students: 'Understanding English Pronunciation - an integrated practice course for beginners', (books and audio) which integrate an awareness and practice of pronunciation into general English language course work by using an innovative 'contextualised' and 'integrated' approach.
